Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is an amazing time of the year. Everything you
see is colorful and all you want to do is watch football. It gets a bit nippy
outside so you want to bundle up and bring a warm cappuccino for the road. It’s
warm enough to go outside and play some touch football but not cold enough for
it to snow yet. It’s like the pilgrims couldn't have picked a better time to
come over to the Americas and have their peace offerings with turkeys. Being
more of a summer kind of guy I still embrace the cozy feeling of sitting next
to a warm fire. Or maybe that’s just up in Connecticut. This will be my first
year experiencing Thanksgiving in the south and I anticipate it being a little
warmer than the north. I hear rumors that southerners actually go out and hunt
for the turkeys because it is warm enough to do so without getting a frost bite
on your fingertips. I've always bought a turkey at the store and I just don’t
think it’s the same as actually hunting for your turkey. I’m all about hunting
as long I get a nice fat and juicy turkey on my table by dinner time. Cooking
the turkey is something else. I never knew how my mother was able to do it
every year. As well making the yams, mashed potatoes and of course the
delicious stuffing. Afterwards, we always have a couple pieces of pie with some
whip cream on top, unbuckle our belts and enjoy the rest of the football game.
